2025 April 30 Wednesday in Leander and Liberty Hill
COFFEE KLATSCH: Diana, Michelle, Joan, Grace, Suzie, Val, Donna, Ricky, Ann, Sandy, Ella, and I were at coffee this morning. I don't know what topics were discussed because there were multiple conversations overlapping. That meant I was unable to hear any of them.
CANASTA at OTHG: Anne, Sandy, Nathern Ella, and I played one complete game of cards that finished right at noon. Nathern won by a large margin.
OTHG BUILDING: The reconstruction of our building has begun both inside and outside. For those who are unaware, some woman backed through the brick wall destroying a lot of glassware that had been on shelves against that exterior wall. I don't know if the insurance covered those items or not.

LUNCH: We stopped at Taco Bell for lunch because Ella wanted a Mexican pizza. I was going to go to the McDonald's next door for a hamburger. However, I saw that Taco Bell now had chicken nuggets. I decided to try them. They were very good with more meat than breading. I also liked the jalapenos honey mustard dipping sauce. I am not as big a fan of the battered and seasoned French fries that came with the meal.
WEATHER: Today brings with it a mix of weather conditions, as the day is expected to be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning. As the day progresses, there is a higher possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon with temperatures reaching a high in the mid 80s. The winds will also be noticeable, coming from the south at 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. The chance of rain for the day is at 50 percent, so it's important to be prepared for potential showers and storms. As the night falls, there is still a 40 percent chance of rain with temperatures dropping to the upper 60s. The evening may bring some relief from the clouds, but there is still a possibility of showers and thunderstorms. The winds will continue from the south at 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. So, while it may not be the most ideal weather for outdoor activities, it's important to stay informed and prepared for any potential changes in weather.
REFUEL: This was our last Wednesday evening meal and Bible learning until after school resumes in the Fall. This was kind of our final exam for the gospel of Matthew. We all graduated.
🏥HEALTH: BP 132/75, 💓Pulse 84, Oxygen🫁97%, (Sleep 💤 11:45 PM - 07:55 AM, Total 08h 01m, 100%, REM 39m, Deep 02h 25m, Light 04h 57m, Awake 00h 09m), 2.1 times per hr Quit breathing, Weight 265.8 lb.
Taking care of one's health is crucial for overall well-being. My daily check-up revealed that my blood pressure reading was 132/75, indicating a normal range. The pulse rate was 84 beats per minute, which is also within the healthy range. Furthermore, the oxygen saturation level was at 97%, indicating good lung function. My sleep patterns were also monitored, showing that I slept from 11:45 PM to 07:55 AM, for a total of 8 hours and 1 minute. This included 39 minutes of REM sleep, 2 hours and 25 minutes of deep sleep, and 4 hours and 57 minutes of light sleep. However, it is concerning that I quit breathing 2.1 times per hour during their sleep, which is indicative of continued sleep apnea. Additionally, my weight was recorded at 265.8 pounds, which is considered overweight or obese. Overall, while some aspects of my health seem to be in good condition, there are also areas that still require attention.

COFFEE KLATSCH: Ella, Sandy, Ricky, Donna, Jo, Val, Suzie, Joan, Grace, Michelle, Dianna, Muriel, and I were all there for coffee this morning. Donna and Ricky came and peed out so much negative energy at our end of the table that I had to leave. They had every right for their hurt feelings and emotions. However, as Texans say “I had no dog in that fight”, and I didn't need to be buried in their negativity.

HIHO Hiho it's off to doc we go. Today, Ella and I made our way to our preferred healthcare provider for a checkup. It was a long-awaited appointment that Ella had made earlier when she was experiencing some dizzy spells. Thankfully, those had subsided and this visit was just a routine check-in. However, it seemed like our nurse practitioner needed our support more than we needed hers. Her husband was in the hospital in a critical condition after undergoing brain surgery.
I couldn't help but feel grateful for our own health and the opportunity to be there for someone else in need. When we l met with Kamal, our nurse practitioner, she shared with us her husband's situation and asked for our prayers and hugs. It was a reminder that behind every white coat, there is a person going through their own struggles, and sometimes all they need is a little love and support from those around them. Ella and I left the clinic not only with a clean bill of health but also with a renewed sense of empathy and kindness towards others.
WEATHER: The day will start off with cloudy skies, but as the day progresses, it will become partly cloudy. The temperature will be warm, with highs reaching the upper 80s. However, the winds will be strong, coming from the south at 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. As night falls, the clouds will thicken and there is a slight chance of showers after midnight. The temperature will be milder, with lows in the upper 60s. The winds will continue to be strong, this time coming from the southeast at 15 to 20 mph. It will be a day of changing weather, with a mix of clouds and sun and a chance of rain. It is important to be prepared for these conditions and plan accordingly.
GAMES: Steve won tonight's Five Crowns game. I don't remember the exact order of the other players. I just know that I was in the middle of the pack. Lucille, Jane, Fran, Ann, Steve, Jo, and I enjoyed this card game while Ella and Sandy played Mexican Train. Since there were only two of them they left early. That was a shame because Maureen and Jill showed up to play after the others had packed up and left.

Verse of the day: Job 19:25-27 CJB
"But I know that my
Redeemer lives,
that in the end he will rise on the dust;
so that after my skin has been thus destroyed,
then even without my
flesh, I will see God.
I will see him for myself,
eyes, not someone
else's, will behold him.
My heart grows weak inside me!”
COMMENTARY: In the book of Job, the speaker declares with deep conviction that his Redeemer lives and will ultimately rise from the dust. He holds onto this belief even in the face of immense suffering and the destruction of his physical body. The speaker's unwavering faith in his Redeemer gives him hope that he will one day see God with his own eyes, not through someone else's. This thought fills him with both joy and longing, as his heart weakens within him. This declaration showcases the strength of the speaker's faith and serves as a reminder to readers of the power of faith in times of hardship and doubt. Despite the challenges he faces, the speaker holds onto his belief in a higher power who will ultimately bring him peace and restoration.

WEATHER: The day was expected to start off with partly cloudy skies in the morning, gradually clearing up as the day progresses. The temperature was predicted to reach the upper 80s, making it a warm and comfortable day. However, strong south winds of 15 to 20 mph did bring some gusts, adding a slight chill to the air. As night fell, the clouds started rolling in, turning the sky into a hazy mix of clouds and stars. The temperature was forecasted to drop down to the upper 60s, providing a cool and pleasant atmosphere. The winds did also ease up a bit, with south winds of 10 to 15 mph and gusts up to 25 mph. Overall, it looked like a beautiful day with a mix of sun and clouds, perfect for outdoor activities or simply enjoying the scenery.
HOME: Once we were home from worship Ella prepared a nice lunch from some leftovers. I was having some issues with my bowels while at church and also at home. I lay down for a nap and woke up at about 2:30 with the need to run to the bathroom. This continued on into the evening.

ASL: I spent about two hours studying American Sign Language today. I've always had an interest in it. I learned to finger spell while in grade school, thanks to this huge dictionary that say in the front of our classroom. A few years ago I picked up some basic signs about Christmas and Santa. This year I'm trying to learn enough to at least carry on a simple conversation with a deaf person. My other goal is to learn conversational Spanish.

COFFEE KLATSCH: Ella, Avis, Michelle, Joan, Grace, Suzie, Val, Dianna, Donna, and I were at coffee. I didn't stay long after realizing that I wasn't hearing from one hearing aid. I went home and changed the filters in both aids and they are working well. .
FOOD PANTRY: Ella wanted to go to the food pantry and get a dessert for this evening's Happy Hour. She found some cookies and cupcakes. We also returned some empty boxes for them to reuse.
RETURN: While we were out and about I went to Whole Foods to drop off an Amazon return package. The phone case we received would not fit Ella's phone.
DELIVERY: We weren't home too long before the replacement phone case arrived from Amazon. Unfortunately the driver did not ring the doorbell but just dropped it at the door. One of our neighbors saw the package and rang the bell. Maybe the sign should be larger?

WEATHER: Today's weather forecast was 84°/66° with patchy fog in the morning, gradually clearing up to a cloudy sky. As the day progresses, there is a chance of rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, with a 30 percent chance of precipitation. The southeast winds will be blowing at 5 to 10 mph, making it a relatively calm day. However, around 7 PM, the weather took a turn and we experienced a bit of rainfall. Despite the earlier patchy fog and cloudy sky, the rain brought some relief from the heat and added a refreshing touch to the weather. Even though there was only a small amount of rain, it was still a pleasant surprise that made the evening more enjoyable. Overall, today's weather was a mix of different elements, starting with fog and clouds, transitioning to sunshine and warmth, and ending with a brief shower. DOCTOR: We arrived a half hour early and Ella was taken straight back for the stress test. I was shown to a waiting area to … well … wait. We are on the fourth floor so I can see quite a way to the horizon. Ella was ushered in and out several times. She was injected with a radioactive agent and had several EKGs before being released at about ten o'clock.
LUNCH: We had not had breakfast before going to the doctor's. Ella had a Dr Pepper, fruit bar, and a peanut butter sandwich while at the doctor. She was told to eat something to counteract the medications. I had nothing. So, once we were free to leave, we went to Golden Chick for lunch. We had the seafood platter with catfish and shrimp. 2025 April 20 Resurrection Sunday in Leander and Liberty Hill
SUNRISE SERVICE: The sunrise service was scheduled for the cemetery. However it was raining profusely this morning so it was moved indoors to the chapel.
BRUNCH: We had biscuits, sausage, gravy, hash browns, and other stuff that I don't remember and didn't eat.
WORSHIP: considering the weather conditions today, we had a relatively large crowd. The court sang at both the sunrise and regular service. The bell court played during time the offering plate was passed around. It was getting late so Ella and I left just after the plate passed us.
SERVICE AT THE HILLS: The success of the Resurrection Sunday sermon and hymn sing was made possible by the efforts of many good people. From organizing the event to preparing the sermon, every individual played an important role in setting things in order. The result was a well-attended and well-received event that celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ. For those who were unable to attend, a practice video of the sermon was shared on YouTube. This allows anyone interested to experience the message from the comfort of their own home. Overall, the Resurrection Sunday sermon and hymn sing was a testament to the hard work and dedication of those involved, and it served as a beautiful reminder of the true meaning behind this important holiday. You can see the practice video by following this link https://youtu.be/7V5IsZgf0Zc?si=X4_IQnZLEUso65x3
MORE BRUNCH: There was a lot of food at the Brunch at the Hills. I tried to be mindful of what and how much I ate even though there were so many tempting dishes. I left several things only partially eaten on my plate.
FAMILY: Today was a special day as my family members, Tate, Leigha, Adam, Heather, and Austin, all came to join me for the sermon at our apartments. We then joined in on the potluck brunch together, enjoying each other's company and catching up on our lives. It was heartwarming to see my children all grown up and taking time out of their busy schedules to spend time with me. As we sat around the table, sharing stories and laughter, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the strong bond we have as a family. Being able to see my kids together, supporting and loving each other, reminded me of the importance of family and the joy it brings. I am blessed to have such wonderful children and cherished every moment spent with them. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories that I will hold dear in my heart.

BREAKFAST: Breakfast was skipped unless you count cookies and coffee - which I don't.
LUNCH: Today's lunch was a messy affair with Very Sloppy Joes on hotdog buns, corn, and yogurt with black raspberry topping. I opted to make the popular sandwich using a canned Sloppy Joe sauce and ground beef. However, the sauce turned out to be too thin, making it impossible to eat as a traditional sandwich. So instead, I served it as open face sandwiches, allowing for all the flavors to shine through the mess. Despite the slight mishap with the sauce, the combination of the savory meat, bun, and yogurt with a hint of tart and sweet from the black raspberry topping made for a satisfying and flavorful meal. It just goes to show that sometimes improvisation can save the day.
BAKING: Ella did a lot of baking in preparation for tomorrow's brunch potluck. She made a dessert that appears to be monkey bread or pull-apart. It looks and smells delicious. She also has a breakfast casserole uncooked in the refrigerator. I'm not sure when she is planning to cook it. We will be leaving here very early tomorrow so that we can be at the Liberty Hill cemetery for the seven a.m. Sonrise service. We have invited other churches to join us there.
WEATHER: 80°/67° Cloudy. A slight chance of showers this morning then a chance of showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

On April 9th, the latest portion of the 183A Toll road, spanning 5.3 miles and connecting Leander and Liberty Hill, was officially inaugurated. Motorists now have access to a nearly 16-mile route between Liberty Hill and Northwest Austin without having to deal with traffic signals at various intersections.

2025 April 18 Good Friday in Leander and Liberty Hill
COFFEE KLATSCH: This morning, Grace, Michelle, Diana, Val, Ella, Donna, Donna, Ricky, Suzie, Maria, Fran, Sandy, and I all gathered for our daily coffee group. As usual, we caught up on each other's lives and shared laughs over our steaming cups of coffee. However, today was extra special as Donna and Ella had requested Ricky to bring out some of the flower arrangements from storage. We were all excited to see the beautiful arrangements that will decorate the tables for this Sunday's message and brunch. It was heartwarming to see people come together to help make our community event even more special. As we sipped our coffee and chatted away, we couldn't help but feel grateful for the friendships and camaraderie that this gathering brings. Our coffee klatsch is not just about coffee, it's about building and strengthening bonds within our community. We can't wait for this Sunday's event and to continue our tradition of coming together over a warm cup of coffee. I came home afterwards and practice the message I've prepared and made sure that the links to YouTube music worked. That way, if we can't have a live pianist for our hymns, at least we will not have to sing acapella.

BREAKFAST: There's nothing quite like a warm and hearty breakfast to start your day off on the right foot. And what better way to do that than with some homemade French toast? The perfect combination of bread, eggs, milk, brown sugar, pancake mix, and pumpkin pie spice creates a sweet and satisfying meal. And while most people may think that making French toast requires a precise recipe, I'm here to tell you that all it takes is a little bit of creativity and a couple of ingredients. For me, the process is simple - whip two eggs, add in some milk and brown sugar, a small scoop of pancake mix and some pumpkin pie spice. After mixing it all together, I dunk my 7 grain bread slices to coat both sides before placing them on a hot buttered griddle. Once it's perfectly cooked on both sides, I serve it with a generous amount of butter and real maple syrup. It's the perfect breakfast that never fails to satisfy my cravings. So next time you're looking for a delicious breakfast option, forget about asking for a recipe and just trust your taste buds - you won't be disappointed.!
FOOD PANTRY:The apartment's in-house food pantry is a valuable resource for its residents, providing them with essential food items when they are unable to purchase them on their own. Thankfully, the pantry is fairly well-stocked at the moment, with a range of canned goods, pasta, and other non-perishable items readily available. However, upon closer inspection, it seems that the dry goods section could use some additional donations. While the pantry is certainly helpful in providing nourishment to those in need, it relies heavily on the generosity of others. With more donations of dry goods, the pantry would be able to better serve our residents and ensure that they have access to enough food to meet their basic needs. It is heartening to see that the community has come together to support this important resource, but there is always room for more contributions and generosity. We can all do our part in helping to keep the pantry well-stocked and ensuring that those who rely on it have access to a variety of nutritious options..
WEATHER: 88°/70° Cloudy. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph
GOOD FRIDAY: We attended the solemn Good Friday service this evening. Sunday's services at Cross Tracks Church will be much more joyous. I pray that my message on Sunday afternoon will be life affirming and thoughtful.
HAPPY HOUR: We arrived home to the apartments while Happy Hour was still taking place. We stopped long enough to say hello and eat a couple of cookies. Then I left to take the grocery order into the apartment. I had ordered Ella's Dr Pepper plus disposable plates and cutlery too be used on Sunday for the brunch potluck. Oh, I just noticed in the photo that Ella also had done ham and cheese roll ups.
LAUNDRY: I nearly forgot to mention that Ella did many loads of laundry today. I very much appreciate the time and effort she puts into keeping us in clean clothes.

Verse of the Day Romans 10:9-10
that if you acknowledge publicly with your mouth that Yeshua is Lord and trust in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be delivered. For with the heart one goes on trusting and thus continues toward righteousness, while with the mouth one keeps on making public acknowledgement and thus continues toward deliverance

“53 Then Yeshua said to them, “Yes, indeed! I tell you that unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life in yourselves.
54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life - that is, I will raise him up on the Last Day. 55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I live in him.”

MY MALE🎗️MAMMOGRAM: I received my mammogram result in a message from my doctor. It read "WNL". I considered responding with “WTF”. But instead I had a look online and found that WNL stands for "Within Normal Limits". This means that the mammogram findings are considered normal and no further evaluation is needed. A WNL result indicates that no abnormalities or suspicious areas were detected in the tissue.
MAKING ROOM FOR JESUS: There were three of us this afternoon for this monthly meeting. It is part scripture reading and then discussion and sharing. This was my first time attending. I like it.

DOCTOR: This morning, Ella had a scheduled appointment for an echocardiogram. However, the experience left her feeling sore and uncomfortable. At one point during the procedure, she even had to ask how much longer it would take because she was in such discomfort. To her dismay, she was informed that there were still fifteen minutes remaining. Despite feeling like she couldn't handle it any longer, Ella persevered and completed the echocardiogram. Her determination and strength in enduring the discomfort demonstrate her dedication to taking care of her health and following through with necessary medical procedures.

LUNCH: Leftovers are often seen as a mundane and unexciting part of our meals, but I see them as a blessing in disguise. Today, I took the leftover boneless pork ribs from the previous day's lunch and decided to get creative with them. Instead of simply reheating them, I shredded them and combined them with a rich and creamy milk sauce to which I added a little chicken soup starter. The result was a delicious and satisfying meal that I served over steamed rice and paired with green beans. For me, leftovers are a testament to God's abundant gift to us. They allow us to make the most out of our food, and I always enjoy finding new ways to use them and change their flavor profiles. It's like a fun challenge to create something new out of something that could have otherwise been thrown away. So next time you have some leftovers in the fridge, don't think of it as “Uh, that again” but rather as an opportunity to be creative and enjoy God's abundance in a different way. It is much better than letting them grow hair in the dark corners of the fridge.
CANASTA: Jane, Ann, Ella, Steve, and I played canasta this evening. Sandy played a couple of hands and then left. Fran played Sandy's hand for the rest of the game. We played teams with Jane and Steve, Ella and I, and Ann with Sandy or Fran. Ella and I won. But who's counting? Me! I'm counting. That's who.

Verse of the Day 1 Corinthians 15:1, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Now I should remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you in turn received, in which also you stand, For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures
2025 April 13 Palm Sunday in Leander and Liberty Hill
LATE START: This morning started off a little later than we had planned. We woke up just a few minutes before 7:00, which meant we had to quickly get ready in order to leave by 7:30. A quick shower and Ella was soon ready. To safe time our solution was to Drive-Thru McDonald's for breakfast sandwiches on our way to church. We still arrived by 8:00. Ella, who was in charge of making coffee for the early arrivals, needed to get started as soon as we arrived. Despite the time crunch, we managed to make it on time and were relieved to soon see that the coffee table was set up and ready for the first congregants. While she took care of that I helped by turning on lights and unlocking the church doors. It was a hectic start to the day, but we were grateful that everything fell into place and we were able to start our Sunday morning off on a positive note.
SUNDAY SCHOOL: We had a full classroom this morning. It was good to see everyone. We read from Luke 23 with members reading that parts of people in the story. I was the snarky criminal crucified with him.
WORSHIP: The children were given palms to wave as they parade around the chapel sanctuary this morning.

LUNCH: For lunch, I decided to make a quick and easy beef stew in my Instapot. I started by adding a can of mixed vegetables and a can of V8 juice to the pot. Next, I added half a can of canned beef and half a spoonful of Better Than Bullion beef flavoring, as well as half a spoonful of Better Than Bullion vegetable flavoring. After mixing everything together, I heated it to a boil for a few minutes. The result was a delicious and hearty stew that was full of flavor. I served it with some buttered bread on the side, which was the perfect accompaniment. The stew was not only satisfying and tasty, but also quick and easy to make. It was the perfect lunch option for a busy day.!

SECOND HAND SATURDAY: Second Hand Saturday was a success as Ella and I managed to slightly declutter our home by getting rid of some items, without acquiring any new ones. It was a cathartic experience, saying goodbye to objects that no longer served a purpose in our lives. As we handed over our unwanted possessions, we felt a sense of relief and satisfaction. We were able to make space in our home and our minds by letting go of material possessions. And the fact that we didn't bring anything new home with us was a bonus – it meant we were not adding to the clutter and chaos in our lives. Overall, Second Hand Saturday was a win for us – we were able to divest ourselves of unnecessary belongings and resist the temptation of getting more, leading to a sense of accomplishment and contentment. It also reminded us of the importance of living simply, being mindful of our consumption, and finding joy in the things that truly matter.

Verse of the Day
For while we were still helpless, at the right time, the Messiah died on behalf of ungodly people. Now it is a rare event when someone gives up his life even for the sake of somebody righteous, although possibly for a truly good person one might have the courage to die. WEATHER: 90°/61° Clear. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast winds 5 to 10 mph. It reached at least 90° today and feels much warmer than that. Probably because we've been carrying groceries in from the car. One of the first things I did once we got to the apartment was turn the thermostat to cool and down to 72 °.
HCCM: Today was our monthly food pickup from Hill Country Community Ministries Food Pantry. Almost all of the canned goods are going up to our in-house food pantry. Several dry goods and frozen goods are also going up to that pantry. We have no need for some of those and have no space for some of those. So we just gave them away to people who do need them. BREAKFAST: We left home for the doctor's appointment before breakfast. Since we were done early at the kidney doctor and had nearly two hours before the next doctor, we went to IHOP for breakfast/lunch. Ella had French toast and sausage. I had shrimp and French fries.
DOCTOR: Our next stop was Northwest Diagnostics and Dr. Bodie. Since the first of the year my nipples have been very tender - painful to touch. I assumed it was the result of the suspenders on my Santa suits irritating them for the previous two months. This was my reasoning even though that has not happened in the past dozen or so years. Okay through January and February. By March I decided it must be a hormone imbalance due to some of the new medications I'm on. However, when I began to notice lumps or masses behind them I became more concerned. That was the reason for the doctor visit today. I now have a referral for a mammogram. No date has been set yet.
WEATHER: 84°/57° Clear. South winds 15 to 20 mph. Actual temps were 85° and 58°.
Home: When we arrived home I laid on the bed to write and recharge my phone. That was about eleven thirty. I woke up about once thirty. I had gone to sleep in the middle of a word. I guess I was tired. I went back to writing. About four thirty we got into the car and drove to Cross Tracks Church.
REFUEL: At our Wednesday evening eat-and-meet we continued through the gospel of Matthew.

ARIK came to visit later morning and stayed until early afternoon. I invited him to stay for lunch but he had other stops to make. He told us a little about their vacation to New Orleans and brought some sweet souvenirs for us. We were updated on the kids. Sofia is moving to Corpus Christi with her boyfriend Adin. Beket had the opportunity to earn an associates degree for free. Jenny's mom has moved in with them due to health issues. I shared with Arik about my upcoming doctor's visit about lumps behind my nipples. We also talked about some end of life preparedness. I ordered a book to assist with planning.
LUNCH: chicken gravy over rice, green beans, and peaches for lunch.
WEATHER: 68°/46° Clear. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Winds become east around 5 mph in the evening then light and variable. The actual high was 69 and the low was 39.
GAMES: I know that in the photos it appears as though we were all eating cookies (which we were) but we were also playing canasta. Jane arrived towards the end of our game and watched. She had moved out of the apartments into a bed and breakfast. The Mexican Train folks were also playing at their table.

AFTER CHURCH: After a long morning at church, Ella was exhausted and ready for bed. As we made our way home, she expressed her desire to take a nap. Once we arrived home, I began preparing lunch by putting a whole frozen chicken into the Instapot and adding a large potato and carrot. After seasoning the chicken and adding water, I pressure cooked it for 30 minutes while Ella and I took a nap. I knew that with the keep-warm function the chicken would be ready whenever. When I woke up, I removed the chicken and vegetables and added a mushroom gravy cube to the liquid in the pot to make a thin gravy. Although it didn't look like the Colonel Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken, (more like Corporal Fendleman's Miami Boiled Chicken) it still tasted delicious. After lunch, I saved the leftover meat and gravy to use for tomorrow's lunch over rice. Despite the unconventional method of cooking, the end result was satisfying and made for an easy post-church meal.
WEATHER: 57°/40° Mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming partly cloudy. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph becoming northwest around 5 mph after midnight.
PREACHING: Back on March 26 I sent out an email to our local family members. The post said, “April 20 is Easter. After our service at church we will come home to the apartments where I will preach a short sermon and then we will have a brunch following. Y'all are welcome. Sermon starts at 12 sharp.” I have now received confirmation from all of them. Two families will be coming. My oldest son's family are either working or otherwise committed. I believe that this will be the first time any of them have heard my sermons.

In four years you'll get to do it all over again. That's how our system of government works.

COFFEE KLATSCH: Ella and I skipped coffee this morning so that we could stop at the church office this morning before going to OTHG to play canasta. A friend gave us a picture she had made with a wood burning tool. The picture was of a cross against a background of flowers. We donated the cross to the church's wall of crosses.
BREAKFAST: This morning Ella and I shared half of yesterday's burrito.
CANASTA at OTHG: Sandy, Nathern, Ella, Anne, and I played canasta at Over The Hill Gang. We came home with a baked potato and all the fixin’s including a tossed salad that Charlie prepared for us.
LUNCH: See post above. ⬆️
DELIVERIES: Today was the day for us to receive deliveries. We received our grocery order including a new vacuum cleaner.
We received a red leather trench coat that I ordered by mistake…but I am keeping.
Autism awareness lapel pins also arrived. For one dollar more than one dealer was selling a single pin, I received twenty-four pins in different shapes; puzzle pieces, crosses, circles, and ribbons.
